When it comes to table saws, SawStop has long been recognized for its revolutionary safety features. However, there’s so much more to these saws than just their safety capabilities. In fact, when you set aside the well – known hot dog demonstrations and the visual reminders of their safety prowess, you’ll find that SawStop table saws are solid, high – quality tools.
The Professional Cabinet Saw (PCS) Range
The Professional Cabinet Saw (PCS) is the flagship product line of SawStop. It offers a wide range of options to suit different needs, whether you’re a professional woodworker, a DIY enthusiast, or a hobbyist. The choice of a PCS saw depends on several factors, including the specific application, how often you’ll use it, its portability requirements, your budget, and the available space in your workshop.
Recently, SawStop introduced an updated version of their smallest saw, the 1.5HP Jobsite Saw PRO. For those who need more power and a larger capacity, they also offer a 7.5HP, 3 – phase, 480V Industrial Cabinet Saw (although this model is not listed on their website, it can be sourced through special arrangements).
Motor Configurations
SawStop PCS saws come with three motor configuration options:
1.75HP, 120V, 14A (PCS175): This is a great option for those who have access to standard 120V household electrical outlets. It provides sufficient power for a variety of general woodworking tasks and is relatively easy to install and use.
1.75HP, 220V (user config. with optional kit), 14A (PCS175): The 220V version offers a bit more power and efficiency compared to the 120V model. It requires an optional configuration kit, but it can be a good choice for users who need a bit more power for more demanding tasks.
3HP, 230V, 1PH, 13A (PCS3120): This is the most powerful motor option in the PCS lineup. It is ideal for heavy – duty woodworking projects, such as cutting large pieces of hardwood or working with dense materials.
Model Options
There are three model options available for each motor configuration, each offering different rip capacities and fence assemblies:
30″ Rip Capacity & Premium Fence Assembly: This model is suitable for smaller – scale projects or those with limited space. The premium fence assembly ensures accurate and precise cuts, making it a great choice for detailed work.
36″ Rip Capacity & T – Glide Fence Assembly: With a larger rip capacity, this model can handle wider boards. The T – Glide Fence Assembly offers smooth and reliable operation, allowing for easy adjustments and precise cuts.
52″ Rip Capacity & T – Glide Fence Assembly: This is the largest rip capacity option in the PCS lineup, making it ideal for large – scale woodworking projects such as building cabinets or furniture. The T – Glide Fence Assembly again provides excellent accuracy and stability.
Base Your Selection on Motor and Model
Once you’ve determined the motor and model options that best suit your needs, you have your base package. It’s important to note that SawStop saws are sold as complete packages, and the individual components are not available for separate purchase.
Accessory Options to Maximize Your Saw
After selecting the base package, you can further customize your saw by choosing from a variety of accessory options.
Mobility Options
PCS Integrated Mobile Base: This base provides limited mobility, allowing for more of a “back and forth” movement. It’s a good choice if you need to move the saw around the workshop occasionally but don’t require full – fledged mobility.
ICS Mobile Base (with PCS Conversion Kit): The ICS Mobile Base offers 360 – degree movement, similar to stationary equipment. It provides greater flexibility and ease of use when positioning the saw, making it ideal for larger workshops or for those who need to move the saw frequently.
Dust Collection Options
Dust Collection Blade Guard (included with 3HP models): This is a convenient dust collection feature that comes with the 3HP models. It helps to keep the work area clean by collecting sawdust at the source.
Overarm Dust Collection Arm: This option provides more comprehensive dust collection coverage, capturing sawdust from a larger area around the saw blade.
Floating Dust Collection Guard (only if your saw is stationary): This guard is designed for stationary saws and offers effective dust collection while allowing for some flexibility in the saw’s position.
Outfeed Tables
Folding Outfeed Table: A folding outfeed table is a space – saving option that can be easily set up when needed. It provides support for long boards during cutting operations.
Outfeed Table: A standard outfeed table offers more stability and support than the folding version, making it a better choice for heavy – duty or continuous cutting tasks.
Sliding Tables
Sliding Crosscut Table: This table allows for precise cross – cutting operations, making it easier to cut boards to the desired length.
Large Sliding Table: The large sliding table provides more surface area for cross – cutting larger boards, increasing the versatility of the saw.
