Ellenville police charged two men following a knife fight Tuesday morning that left both injured and bleeding, according to the Ellenville Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a fight involving knives at 81 Center Street around 10:18 a.m. When police arrived, those involved had fled toward Warren Street.
Police found one man on Warren Street with a head wound and took him into custody. He was carrying a box cutter razor and a pocketknife.
The second man was found inside a nearby home at 28 Warren Street. He had been stabbed twice — once in the arm and once in the neck and face area.
Rescue squads from Ellenville and the Town of Mamakating responded to the scene. One man was taken to Ellenville Hospital, while the other was treated at the scene but refused hospital care.
Investigators said the fight stemmed from an ongoing dispute that had lasted several months. The conflict reportedly began over social media posts and continued harassment.
The two men confronted each other in front of 81 Center Street. After an argument, 54-year-old Frederick Thompson of Ellenville reportedly pulled out a box cutter razor.
