A leading industrial equipment rental company has modernized its repair workshop with a specialized jib crane, replacing an outdated—and potentially hazardous—forklift-based lifting system. The upgrade, designed by Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment (ELS), improves efficiency and worker safety while optimizing limited workspace.
The company’s workshop, which services returned equipment, previously relied on a forklift as an improvised mounting point for manual chain falls. While this method allowed employees to lift motors and sub-assemblies for repairs, the company deemed it inefficient and unsafe, prompting a search for a permanent overhead solution.
ELS evaluated multiple crane systems to meet the workshop’s unique needs. A freestanding workstation crane was rejected due to space constraints and workflow interference. A ceiling-mounted crane was ruled out for insufficient load capacity and the facility’s high ceiling height. The team ultimately recommended a Gorbel FS300 Jib Crane, a freestanding system capable of handling loads up to five tonnes. Its compact, base-plate-mounted design minimized workspace disruption while providing the strength and flexibility required for repair tasks.
The FS300 is engineered for durability in demanding environments, including loading docks, machining operations, and outdoor applications. Its compatibility with powered hoists makes it ideal for multi-station workflows.
With the new system in place, the rental company has streamlined repairs while prioritizing employee safety—a critical upgrade for an industry reliant on precision and reliability.
