HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — A 62-year-old Hampton man died after the riding lawn mower he was operating was struck by a car late Saturday night, according to local authorities.
Hampton police responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash and discovered a sedan had rear-ended the mower. The impact proved fatal for the mower’s driver, identified as Floyd Arthur Howard Jr.
A second man, who was riding on the lawn mower at the time of the collision, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
