Eufy Unveils First Self-Driving Robot Lawn Mowers with AI, Cameras

by Harry

Robotic lawn mowers have advanced quickly in recent years. Many no longer rely on boundary wires, instead using RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) satellite systems for precise navigation. But Eufy’s new models go even further, removing the need for both boundary wires and satellite receivers.

The newly announced Eufy E15 and E18 are V-FSD (Visual Full Self-Driving) robot lawn mowers. They navigate using a combination of binocular cameras and artificial intelligence, similar to the systems found in self-driving cars.

This approach offers several benefits. It removes the hassle of installing a separate RTK receiver, and it also makes the mowers a better fit for gardens with many overhead obstacles. Satellite navigation requires a clear view of the sky, which isn’t always possible in dense or tree-covered yards.

These mowers mark Eufy’s first step into outdoor robotics. The company is best known for its indoor smart home products, including robot vacuums, smart locks, and security cameras. One of Eufy’s robot vacuums currently holds the top spot in TechRadar’s best robot vacuum ranking.

With this track record, it will be interesting to see if Eufy can bring its indoor innovation to the great outdoors.
