FlexGen Power Systems LLC, a leader in battery energy storage solutions and energy management software, has partnered with Rosendin, the largest employee-owned electrical contractor in the U.S., to develop a next-generation utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) tailored to the dynamic needs of modern data centers.
The collaboration will combine Rosendin’s patented BESSUPS design with FlexGen’s Soft Grid Interconnection and Island Grid Transient Frequency Stabilization technologies. The project will be powered by FlexGen’s HybridOS energy management system, integrating advanced grid support capabilities through its Innovation Lab.
This external, medium-voltage BESSUPS architecture marks a significant departure from conventional UPS systems. By operating outside the data center’s core infrastructure at 1,000V to 35,000V, it reduces capital costs, simplifies system design, and enhances operational efficiency.
Designed for decarbonization and peak flexibility, the system delivers clean, high-quality uninterrupted power and allows for dispatchable energy to be returned to the grid—meeting both data center uptime requirements and broader utility demands.
“This partnership represents a new paradigm in data center energy resilience and sustainability,” said FlexGen CEO Kelcy Pegler.
