Chinese battery maker SEVB recently introduced its Flash Charge 4.0 battery, a 12C polar charging model capable of fully charging electric vehicles (EVs) in just five minutes. The innovation was showcased at the 17th Shenzhen International Battery Exhibition.
Alongside this, SEVB highlighted its 2nd generation Xinxingchi 2.0 Kiloampere Polar Charging battery—the world’s first supercharged battery with a charging current of up to 1400 amperes (A). When paired with a vehicle’s 1000V high-voltage system, this technology enables charging speeds of up to 1.4 megawatts (MW).
This breakthrough means EV drivers can add over 150 kilometers of range with only one minute of charging and up to 450 kilometers after five minutes.
SEVB also emphasizes safety and energy efficiency by using advanced cooling designs like double-layer cooling and aerospace-grade insulation. These features keep the system highly efficient in extreme weather, retaining 90% energy at -20°C and functioning normally at -40°C.
The company has extended this technology to motorcycles, launching 6C batteries that generate less heat, aiming to reduce EV ownership costs to be lower than internal combustion engine vehicles within three years.
