Tasmania is supercharging its electric vehicle (EV) network with 11 new public charging stations as part of the third phase of its ChargeSmart Electric Vehicle Charging Grants program. Backed by $550,000 in new funding, the initiative aims to ensure convenient, widespread access to EV charging infrastructure across the island—particularly in regional areas.
This new rollout builds on the success of previous ChargeSmart rounds, which funded:
- 33 fast chargers
- 46 workplace charging units
- Delivered via $1.3 million in grants
As EV adoption continues to grow in Tasmania, the state government is working to eliminate range anxiety and support decarbonization goals by making it easier for drivers to find charging stations no matter where they are.
The expansion reflects Tasmania’s broader commitment to clean transport and regional development, reinforcing its position as a national leader in the EV transition.
