AWE 2025, one of the largest trade shows for home appliances and consumer electronics, Nidec Global Appliance introduced its latest innovation: the Embraco Atom residential refrigeration compressor. The event, held in China from March 20 to 23, saw the Atom being recognized with the prestigious AWE Innovation Award.
The Embraco Atom is set to be the most compact variable-speed compressor for residential use, making energy-efficient technology more accessible. Weighing just 2.5 kg and measuring under 110 mm, it is 30% lighter than the company’s previous compact model, the FMS. Designed to appeal to a broad range of refrigeration applications, the Atom is suitable for everything from premium models to single-door refrigerators and beverage coolers.
Alberto Casnati, President of Nidec Global Appliance, explained: “With the growing global demand for energy efficiency, variable-speed technology is essential, especially in refrigeration. It allows compressors to adjust their speed based on real-time demand, leading to significant energy savings compared to traditional fixed-speed systems. The Atom is a global platform to help drive the adoption of this technology, with key markets including China, Europe, and India.”
The Atom also sets new standards in sound performance, offering both low noise levels and high sound quality. Its compact design maximizes appliance space, offering more room for food storage, which is a key feature for consumers. Thanks to these innovations, the Atom is poised to become a game-changer in the refrigeration industry.
