ACEnergy’s large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Little River has been fast-tracked under the Allan Labor government’s Development Facilitation Program.
The Victorian government announced that the $350 million project will be able to store up to 770 megawatt-hours of electricity during times of high energy generation. This stored energy can then be used during peak demand periods, with the capacity to power more than 121,000 households.
Construction of the project is expected to create 55 jobs, while an additional five permanent positions will be available during the project’s operational phase.
The Development Facilitation Program was expanded last year to include renewable energy initiatives, as part of the government’s push to accelerate the rollout of cleaner, cheaper energy across the state.
