Milwaukee, the pioneer of the portable electric hacksaw (the original Sawzall) in 1951, is once again making waves in the power tool industry. Set to launch in November 2020, Milwaukee is releasing a new and improved version of the Sawzall that outshines its predecessors.
The New Generation (2821) and ONE – KEY Version (2822)
Exceptional Performance
The newest generation of the Sawzall, model 2821, claims to have the fastest cutting in its class, along with enhanced durability and a lighter weight. It is designed to handle the toughest applications on the jobsite. The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor is a key feature, providing 3,000 SPM (strokes per minute) and a 1 – 1/4” stroke length. This enables faster material removal, allowing for quick cuts in various materials such as wood with nails, black pipe, and conduit.
In addition to the powerful motor, REDLINK PLUS Intelligence ensures maximum performance under load and protection from overloading. The saw also comes with an adjustable shoe, a rafter hook, an LED light, and a 5 – year manufacturer warranty.
The ONE – KEY version, model 2822, takes productivity to the next level. It allows users to customize performance for unrivaled productivity and also enables them to track and manage the tool through the ONE – KEY app.
Durability Upgrades
Milwaukee has focused significantly on improving the durability of this new Sawzall. Since the introduction of the first – generation Sawzall (2720), M18 FUEL technology has advanced, and these improvements are reflected in the new model.
The slider crank mechanism has been upgraded to be more resistant to dust and water ingress. The blade clamp durability has been enhanced with anti – corrosion material, ensuring longer blade – clamp life. The wear – resistance of the blade – change lever has been improved, and a metal – reinforced battery connection has been added. These features enhance the overall durability of the tool and ensure better battery retention over its lifespan.
How to Get It
The 2821 model will be available in three configurations at launch in November: a 2 – Battery Kit (2821 – 22), a 1 – Battery Kit (2821 – 21), or as a Bare Tool (2821 – 20). The ONE – KEY sister product, model 2822, will launch slightly later, around January 2021, in a 2 – Battery Kit (2822 – 22) or Bare Tool (2822 – 20) configuration.
