SawStop technology is well – known for its fascinating and unmatched safety features. However, it’s important to recognize that the SawStop is more than just a safety device. It is, in fact, a solid table saw.
The Professional Cabinet Saw (PCS) Lineup
The Professional Cabinet Saw (PCS) is the cornerstone of SawStop’s product range. There are multiple factors to consider when choosing a SawStop PCS, including the application, usage frequency, portability requirements, budget, and available space.
Recently, SawStop released an updated version of their smallest saw, the 1.5HP Jobsite Saw PRO. For those who need a saw with a great deal of power and a large size, there is also a 7.5HP, 3 – phase, 480V Industrial Cabinet Saw (although it’s not listed on the website, it can be obtained through special arrangements).
In general, there are three size options for each of the two PCS motor configurations. After determining the motor and model options, you can further customize your saw by selecting from several accessory options to maximize its functionality.
Motor Configurations
1.75HP, 120V, 14A (PCS175): This motor configuration is suitable for those who have access to standard 120V household electrical outlets and don’t require extremely high power. It can handle a variety of general woodworking tasks.
1.75HP, 220V (user config. with optional kit), 14A (PCS175): The 220V option provides a bit more power and efficiency compared to the 120V version. It requires an optional kit for configuration but can be a good choice for users who need a bit more power for more demanding tasks.
3HP, 230V, 1PH, 13A (PCS3120): This is a higher – power motor configuration that is ideal for heavy – duty woodworking projects. It can handle larger and tougher materials with ease.
Model Options
30″ Rip Capacity & Premium Fence Assembly: This model is suitable for smaller – scale projects or those with limited space. The premium fence assembly ensures accurate and precise cuts.
36″ Rip Capacity & T – Glide Fence Assembly: With a larger rip capacity, this model can handle wider boards. The T – Glide Fence Assembly offers smooth and reliable operation.
52″ Rip Capacity & T – Glide Fence Assembly: This is the largest rip capacity option, making it ideal for large – scale woodworking projects such as building cabinets or furniture. The T – Glide Fence Assembly again provides excellent accuracy.
Mobility Options
PCS Integrated Mobile Base: This option provides limited mobility, allowing for more of a “back and forth” movement. It’s a good choice if you need to move the saw around the workshop occasionally but don’t require full – fledged mobility.
ICS Mobile Base (with PCS Conversion Kit): The ICS Mobile Base offers 360 – degree movement, similar to stationary equipment. It provides greater flexibility and ease of use when positioning the saw.
Dust Collection Options
Dust Collection Blade Guard (included with 3HP models): This is a convenient dust collection feature that comes with the 3HP models. It helps to keep the work area clean by collecting sawdust at the source.
Overarm Dust Collection Arm: This option provides more comprehensive dust collection coverage, capturing sawdust from a larger area around the saw blade.
Floating Dust Collection Guard (only if your saw is stationary): This guard is designed for stationary saws and offers effective dust collection while allowing for some flexibility in the saw’s position.
Outfeed Tables
Folding Outfeed Table: A folding outfeed table is a space – saving option that can be easily set up when needed. It provides support for long boards during cutting operations.
Outfeed Table: A standard outfeed table offers more stability and support than the folding version, making it a better choice for heavy – duty or continuous cutting tasks.
Sliding Tables
Sliding Crosscut Table: This table allows for precise cross – cutting operations, making it easier to cut boards to the desired length.
Large Sliding Table: The large sliding table provides more surface area for cross – cutting larger boards, increasing the versatility of the saw.
