Xiaomi has officially launched the Mijia M40S robot vacuum mop in China, introducing a new level of deep cleaning automation with a sleek, ultra-slim design. Now available for pre-order on JD.com, the M40S comes in two versions: a water tank version priced at 2999 yuan ($414) and a fully automatic water management model priced at 3699 yuan ($511). Sales are set to begin on May 13.
The M40S stands out with its newly engineered liftable LiDAR navigation module. This module intelligently lowers itself when approaching low-clearance furniture, reducing the robot’s height to just 8.8 cm. This compact form allows it to clean under beds, sofas, and other tight spaces that most vacuum cleaners can’t reach. Despite its slim profile, the M40S is equipped with Xiaomi’s most powerful suction system yet, offering up to 23,000Pa for deep cleaning power.
Other standout features include a dual blade anti-tangle main brush designed to cut through hair, minimizing manual maintenance. The robot also comes with a retractable side brush system and auto-extending mop pads that improve cleaning along edges and corners. These arms operate with millimeter-level accuracy to ensure effective coverage along baseboards and walls.
With a three-laser navigation system that includes stereo LiDAR and edge distance sensors, the M40S provides 3D spatial awareness, enabling precise obstacle avoidance and dynamic route mapping. This ensures the robot adapts to real-time changes in the environment, avoiding furniture and other obstacles.
The premium version of the M40S features an embedded compact dock that supports automatic water inlet and outlet, detergent dispensing, and high-temperature mop cleaning up to 80°C. It also includes a hot air drying function that completes in two hours, along with dual scraper arms to keep the mop and base clean.
Additional features include 75 days of free dust disposal, a 5200mAh battery, and compatibility with Xiaomi’s Mi Home app or Xiao Ai voice assistant for convenient control. The vacuum also supports HyperOS Connect, enabling smooth interaction with other devices in Xiaomi’s smart ecosystem.
