Ridgid has recently made significant updates to its SeeSnake Compact Camera System, introducing the C40 and M40 models, both with a 130’ length, which is a 30’ increase compared to the previous 100’ SeeSnake Compact 2 Camera system. These new additions are designed to handle most residential applications with ease.
Differences between C40 and M40
Cable Flexibility
The C40 features a 6mm cable, which is the same as the original Compacts. This cable offers greater flexibility, allowing for easier navigation through tight and winding pipes. On the other hand, the M40 has a 7mm cable, which is stiffer. The stiffer cable provides more push – power, making it suitable for pipes that require a bit more force to navigate.
Turning Radius
The C40 has a turning radius of 2.5”, which gives it more flexibility in maneuvering through pipes. In contrast, the M40 has a slightly larger turning radius of 3”, which means it may have some limitations in very tight spaces. However, the M40 compensates for this with its stiffer cable.
Price
The M40 comes with a slightly higher price tag compared to the C40. This price difference is due to the stiffer cable and other features that make it more suitable for certain applications.
Advanced Camera Head Features
Both the C40 and M40 camera heads are equipped with advanced features that enhance the inspection experience.
TruSense High Dynamic Range (HDR) Image Sensors
These sensors provide higher contrast images, making it easier to distinguish between different objects and debris in the pipes. This is especially useful when inspecting pipes with varying levels of light or when trying to identify small obstructions.
TiltSense
The TiltSense feature uses an inclinometer in the camera heads to determine the slope angle of the pipe. This information is crucial for understanding the flow of water and identifying any potential blockages or issues in the pipe’s gradient.
The CS6x VERSA Monitor
The new CS6x VERSA monitor is a significant upgrade to the SeeSnake system. It offers several features that make it more functional and versatile.
Mounting Options
The CS6x VERSA can be mounted to either the C40 or M40 Compacts, providing a stable platform for the monitor during inspections. Additionally, it can stand on its own, allowing it to be used with any other SeeSnake monitor. This flexibility makes it easy to use the monitor in different setups and environments.
Wi – Fi Connectivity
The X on all SeeSnake monitors, including the CS6x VERSA, indicates that it can connect to Wi – Fi. This allows users to control the TruSense HDR and TiltSense features remotely, enhancing the convenience and efficiency of the inspection process. Moreover, the CS6x VERSA is backwards compatible with monitors several years old, ensuring that users can take advantage of the new features without having to replace their existing equipment.
Overall Impression
The Ridgid SeeSnake C40 and M40 Compacts with the CS6x VERSA monitor are impressive systems that can easily satisfy a wide range of drain and sewer inspection needs. They offer a combination of flexibility, advanced camera features, and a versatile monitor, making them a valuable tool for plumbers and other professionals in the industry.
It’s worth noting that these new systems were launched at the same time as the new FlexShaft Drain Cleaners (K9 – 102 with 50’ cable or K9 – 204 with 70’ cable). These drain cleaners can clean drains while the camera system is in the line, providing a more comprehensive solution for drain and sewer maintenance.
