by Harry

Samsung SDI, South Korea’s second-largest battery manufacturer, announced Wednesday that it has signed a battery supply agreement with German energy storage company Tesvolt AG.

As part of the deal, Samsung SDI will deliver its Samsung Battery Box (SBB) units to Tesvolt by the end of this month. Tesvolt will enhance the units by adding power conversion systems and cybersecurity features before distributing them to customers across Europe, the company said in a press release.

Tesvolt recently committed to deepening its partnership with Samsung SDI, highlighting the SBB’s Enhanced Direct Injection (EDI) system. This technology is designed to reduce fire risk while offering strong durability and low noise performance.

“We have been supplying ESS batteries to Tesvolt since 2017, and with the addition of our SBB products, our collaboration is expected to grow even stronger,” a Samsung SDI official said.

The SBB is a 20-foot container pre-loaded with battery cells, modules, and racks, and can be connected directly to the power grid for immediate use. It has received global recognition, especially in the U.S. and Europe, for its advanced safety features.
