This winter, North Sydney Council is installing 60 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across multiple local car parks, including North Sydney, Kirribilli, Cammeray, Wollstonecraft, Cremorne, and Crows Nest. A major super site on Holtermann Street will accommodate up to 26 vehicles charging simultaneously.
The new chargers offer a variety of options, including ultra-rapid DC, rapid DC, and fast AC charging, catering to different EV drivers’ needs. Payment is simple via contactless methods or mobile apps from charge point operators.
Recognizing that many residents lack off-street parking, North Sydney Council aims to expand public EV charging availability, encouraging more residents to transition to electric vehicles.
Mayor Zoë Baker highlighted the environmental benefits: “More electric vehicles on our roads mean lower emissions, better air quality, and a cleaner future.”
This expansion was made possible through co-funding from the NSW Government’s electric vehicle kerbside charging grants and fast charging grants programs, awarded to operators NRMA, Evie, and ChargePost.
