Horizon Agriculture has introduced new 3m and 4m rigid-frame models to its DSX no-till, disc drill lineup, catering to grain and oilseed growers, as well as contractors working in smaller fields and on fewer hectares.
The new machines are designed to work with tractors in the 105-140hp range, delivering outputs of up to 2.5 hectares per hour. These smaller, trailed units share the same features as their larger counterparts, offering a choice of four row spacings between 167mm and 250mm. They can also apply fertiliser alongside the seed as a standard feature.
At the heart of all Horizon DSX trailed and MDSX-mounted drills is a row unit that includes a parallelogram linkage with hydraulic pressure control and a single “undercut” opening disc. Sowing depth is managed by a wheel positioned in line with the seed boot, while individual coulter arm lock-up enables wide row spacing and the ability to sow inter-row companion crops.
The new 3m and 4m models also feature a fully integrated 250-litre hopper for small seeds or micro-granular products, placed between the main tanks, which range from 1,700 to 2,100 litres. The main tanks can be expanded to 2,300 litres without the supplementary container.
For liquid fertiliser application, an optional 750-litre tank is available, mounted over the transport wheels, which are 560mm or 750mm wide and located at the rear of the drill. These new models follow the introduction of larger 9m versions of both the DSX and MDSX, with the MDSX designed as a toolbar unit that works with a front-mounted hopper.
The new variants feature revised, lighter, and narrower row units attached to a stronger, more robust toolbar, along with self-adjusting, wear-resistant seed boots.
