MG Motor is considering a significant upgrade for its Windsor EV to better compete with its rivals in the electric vehicle market. Currently, the Windsor EV is equipped with a 38kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 331 kilometers per charge. This puts it close to the Nexon EV’s 35kWh variant, which offers 325 kilometers.
However, other competitors, including the Nexon EV long-range variant, the upcoming Curvv EV, and the Creta EV, offer larger battery packs and longer ranges—from 473 kilometers in the Creta EV to an impressive 585 kilometers in the Curvv EV.
After launching the Windsor EV, MG Motor indicated it would consider offering a larger battery pack for customers seeking longer range or reduced range anxiety. Reports suggest that MG may introduce a 50kWh battery pack for the Windsor EV. In Indonesia, the Wuling Cloud EV — a version of the Windsor EV — is already offered with a 50.6kWh battery, delivering a 460-kilometer range.
According to a source at JSW MG Motor India, the company is also exploring the possibility of fitting the Windsor EV with a 55kWh battery pack. This could allow the Windsor EV to surpass the Nexon EV’s long-range variants and potentially match the Curvv EV’s range of 585 kilometers.
