Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. has launched its first 10 MegaCharger stations across prominent Indian highways and urban centers, marking a significant step in the company’s broader mission to strengthen the country’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
Developed in collaboration with leading charging solution providers ChargeZone and Statiq, the high-speed MegaChargers are strategically positioned along major EV travel corridors to reduce range anxiety and enable seamless intercity electric travel. Several sites also feature added conveniences such as restrooms and dining facilities, enhancing the overall EV user experience.
The rollout marks the first phase of TATA.ev’s plan to expand India’s EV charging network exponentially. The company aims to double the number of charge points nationwide to 400,000 by 2027, supporting the rapid acceleration of electric mobility in the country.
“At a time when EV adoption is on its growth path, ubiquitous and dependable charging infrastructure is the need of the hour,” said Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. “These first 10 TATA.ev MegaCharger sites in key EV corridors of the country are the first tranche of a superfast charging network that we will have across major highways.”
He added, “The TATA.ev MegaCharger network will increasingly connect all major cities across India to remove charging anxiety. We are on a mission to provide fast, reliable, and effortless charging that enables seamless mobility across the country – and we are just getting started.”
Tata’s move comes at a time when India’s EV sector is gaining significant momentum, yet remains constrained by gaps in fast-charging infrastructure. The company’s MegaCharger network is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting longer-range EVs and fostering confidence among prospective EV buyers.
As part of this ongoing infrastructure initiative, Tata plans to further accelerate partnerships with charge point operators and technology providers, ensuring that fast, accessible, and scalable charging becomes a mainstay of India’s evolving transport ecosystem.
