ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division has unveiled a new air compressor designed specifically for medium and heavy-duty hybrid, battery electric, and fuel cell trucks, buses, and coaches. The product made its debut at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in California and the Auto Shanghai show in China.
Called the e-comp Scroll, this compressor is oil-free, operates quietly, and produces minimal vibration. According to ZF, it balances efficiency with smooth performance. Powered by an integrated electric motor, the compressor uses interlocking scrolls to compress air. This design reduces vibration and limits noise emissions to about 67 decibels—roughly the noise level of a typical office—at its standard operation rate of 250 liters per minute.
The e-comp Scroll is a promising solution for cleaner, quieter commercial vehicles that meet the demands of modern transportation.
