When it comes to cutting pipes on the jobsite, precision is key. Whether you’re working on production jobs or other projects, you typically want fast, accurate, and consistent cuts. Since opening our doors in 1983, we’ve come across many tools, but nothing comes close to the Exact PipeCut Saws when it comes to pipe cutting.
The Exact PipeCut Saws
The Exact PipeCut 460 PRO, which can handle pipes from 4” to 18”, joins the 280 PRO (2” – 11”) and 360 PRO (3” – 14”). These saws feature a 6.5” circular saw mounted on top of unique, spider – like legs.
These saws are not inexpensive, and they may seem overly costly if you don’t factor in labor costs, the need for reworking, and wasted materials. However, what these saws do exceptionally well is enable almost anyone to make super – accurate cuts on large, heavy materials very quickly.
They are sold as complete systems that include a large duffel bag. This bag not only houses the saw but also the roller system, making it convenient to transport all the necessary components.
The Secret Sauce: Rolling Functionality
The floor rollers included with the Exact Saws work in tandem with the rollers built into the saws. This allows for easy rolling of both the pipe and the saw. Even when dealing with very long pipes that weigh hundreds of pounds, a single user can easily make an accurate cut without any assistance.
The adjustment knob on the saws enables quick, tool – free clamping to different – sized pipes in just a matter of seconds. This feature greatly enhances the efficiency and ease of use of the saws.
Blade Life: How Many Cuts Per Blade?
One of the most frequently asked questions is how many cuts per blade the Exact PipeCut Saws can achieve. Unfortunately, there’s no one – size – fits – all answer. However, Exact has published some average life expectancy data based on correct use. There are other variables at play as well, but Exact provides a PDF of Blade Life Averages.
For example, Diamond Grit Blades can last over 250 cuts in an 8” cast iron pipe, indicating a considerable number of cuts. On the other hand, a Cermet Blade might only last for about 10 cuts on a 12” stainless steel pipe. The range is significant, but overall, the blade life has been better than expected based on feedback from Exact saw users.
Additional Features: Beveling and Portable Roller Bench
Don’t forget about beveling! The Exact Tool Brand also offers a set of PipeBevel Tools. These tools are similar in usage to the PipeCut Saws but are designed to put a perfect bevel on the pipe instead of cutting it.
If you prefer not to work on the ground with the rollers, Exact has a portable Roller Bench 170 Station. This station brings everything to a more comfortable working height. However, it has a lower maximum load capacity of 220 lbs, making it more suitable for small – diameter pipes.
