New York has committed $4.85 million to support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the state. The funding is part of the Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Infrastructure Grants program, which aims to promote clean transportation, increase charger availability, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Administered by the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the program focuses on communities most impacted by pollution and climate change, as outlined by Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office.
The program also includes a variable matching requirement, which depends on a municipality’s median household income and whether the ZEV infrastructure is located in a disadvantaged community.
