Hundreds of spectators gathered at a farm near Tenbury over the weekend to watch an intense memorial lawn mower race.
The West Midlands Lawn Mower Racing Association hosted its first-ever 555 Cable Cup, an endurance race lasting 5 hours and 55 minutes. Drivers took on the challenge in teams, racing on lawn mowers in a true test of skill and stamina.
The event took place at Spilsbury and Jones Brewing Company in Tenbury Wells. It featured 26 teams along with three junior competitors.
The 555 Cable Cup honors the memory of association member Matthew Cable, who passed away a few years ago. His family attended the event, which is held annually in his tribute.
While this race pushed drivers to their limits, the club also holds shorter sprint races every two to three weeks, which involve fewer laps.
Kevin Bradford, who has been involved with the club since 2016 and has extensive experience racing mowers, recently took on the role of club chair.
