ACT energy retailer ActewAGL has opened the region’s largest mixed-use electric vehicle (EV) charging hub on Watson Street, close to Turner Parklands. The new facility aims to meet the rising demand for accessible and flexible EV charging in the area.
The Turner EV charging hub includes two dual-port 75kW DC fast chargers and two dual-port 22kW AC chargers. This combination offers a variety of charging speeds to accommodate different needs. The site supports broad compatibility with three CCS plugs, one CHAdeMO plug, and four Type 2 sockets. It can charge a wide range of EV models, from the Nissan Leaf to the latest Tesla, BYD, BMW, or Audi vehicles. The hub serves any of the more than 11,000 electric vehicles currently on Canberra’s roads.
Conveniently located near Canberra’s city centre, Braddon, the Australian National University, and the Elouera Street light rail stop, the fast chargers are well suited for both interstate commuters and locals needing a quick charge. The AC chargers provide a reliable option for visitors to Turner Parklands and residents of nearby apartments who may lack private charging options.
