Fenecon and The Mobility House Launch 48 MWh EV Battery Storage Project

by Harry

Fenecon and The Mobility House Energy are collaborating to build a new 48 MWh storage facility in Grevesmühlen, designed to repurpose electric vehicle (EV) batteries for large-scale energy storage. This project combines economic efficiency with a resource-conserving circular economy approach.

Fenecon, known for its modular storage containers, will integrate used vehicle batteries from various manufacturers into stationary storage systems. The Mobility House Energy will oversee the marketing and operation of the storage facility, leveraging its expertise and intelligent algorithms to minimize battery aging and maximize economic performance.

The storage facility in Grevesmühlen, located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, is expected to go into operation in the second half of 2025, after the completion of a local substation by E.DIS Netz GmbH. The project will use only new, but now obsolete, traction batteries from electric vehicles that are no longer needed due to model changes, surplus production, or missed sales targets.

Fenecon and The Mobility House Energy have previously implemented similar successful battery storage projects, including facilities in Iggensbach and Greenville (USA). These high-quality, long-lasting EV batteries will be given a second life, supporting sustainable energy use and advancing circular economy principles.
